No foolin', this latest edition of the quarterly zine published by HWA member J.W. Donley is now available and features work from our chapter chair, Erik Keevan! Learn more and order your copy here

APRIL 2 - 5, 2026


NORWESCON


Multiple members from the HWA Seattle chapter will be on the floor tabling and/or sitting in panels at this classic genre event where science fiction, fantasy, and horror intersect.


Includes a decent film festival, vendors markets, artist's gallery, cosplay, and more. Held at the DoubleTree Inn at SeaTac, reachable by Link Light Rail.

SQUATCHCON


What happens when you mix Sasquatch fandom with Comicon vibes? You get a convention focused on Bigfoot held on the Olympic Peninsula.


You'll find writers from the HWA Seattle chapter there leading workshops, paneling on writing topics, selling books, livestreaming a podcast, and more at this fun family-friendly event.


What's more, you can get a FREE WEEKEND PASS from convention coordinator (and HWA member) Clay Vermulm by simply asking for one via email!

GOTHIC AND MODERN HORROR READING


Gamut Poetry's Office Hours Reading Series moves into Elliott Bay Books with this collaborative event featuring writers and faculty from the US Bothell Creative Writing and Poetics MFA program. Includes a Q&A.

POETRY PROMPTS & REVISION TECHNIQUES WORKSHOP


This month's free online workshop for Seattle chapter HWA members will be led by Michele Cacano, perfect for celebrating National Poetry Month.


This is a Zoom workshop; an email with log-in instructions will be sent to members a few days before the event.


Keep this in mind: If you have horror poems in need of a bloody scalpel (muahahahaha) you can use this workshop to fine tune them, then send them off to the national HWA's Poetry Showcase Volume XIII, which is open for submissions until May 1. Editors are Colleen Anderson, Kyla Lee Ward, Erik Hofstatter, and Jamal Hodge. Submission information here.

JOIN G.G. SILVERMAN FOR THE LAUNCH OF The Blood Year Daughter


Third Place Books welcomes HWA Seattle member-author G. G. Silverman to the Lake Forest Park branch for a conversation about her debut short story collection, The Blood Year Daughter: a collection of feminist horror stories where women and girls escape smiling captors, draw blood to curse their loved ones, and wield fear to defend themselves in post-apocalyptic worlds. This event will include a public signing and time for audience Q&A.

CRYPTICON


This is the PNW’s premiere horror convention and probably our biggest event of the year!


If you want to go as an attendee or participate with the HWA, you'll want to make your plans now for travel and lodging. There will be writers’ program track, vendors, a film fest, the Camp Crypticon III contest anthology launch announcing the winners, a spooky open mic, galley of art, cosplay and so much more. Stay late and hang out on the 13th Floor nightly with all the other creepy people
